In March 2017 it was announced that the team of Heijmans Vastgoed, consisting of NL Architects, Studio Maks, MTD landscape architects / urban designers and Arup, was selected by the municipality of Eindhoven out of 17 entries as a candidate buyer for the redevelopment of the Deken van Somerenstraat in Eindhoven. Together with the teams of SDK Real Estate and Consortium Stuijvesant, the team has applied as a candidate, based on a preliminary urban design and a plot bid for the redevelopment of this unique location in the center of Eindhoven; a location that now includes a number of large-scale municipal buildings and a parking lot.
With the sale and redevelopment of the Deken van Somerenstraat, the municipality of Eindhoven has the ambition to provide a quality impulse to this part of the center and to transform De Bergen into a spatial high-quality and dynamic district with various innovative residential typologies and facilities. In the plans a lot of attention is given to the ambitions of Eindhoven; more green, sustainability and participation of stakeholders, concerned residents and entrepreneurs in the planning process. The three selected parties will have the opportunity to work out and advance their plans until June. Based on these plans, the final developing party for the plan area will be selected.
It is expected that the realization of the plans can be started in 2018/2019.
